Alice Wood is an illustrator and writer of children's books. She grew up in Dorset and then studied BA Illustration at Camberwell School of Art in London and MA Children's Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art. For many years she has also managed the studios of other artists: Tom Phillips RA, Cathie Pilkington RA and has most recently joined The Good Ship Illustration as Chief Petty Officer/Lifeguard.
Alice is also a toymaker and runs The Little Toy Dog Company. She is a Crafts Council registered maker, and member of the Heritage Craft Association, and in 2016 was selected to be a member of the British Toy Makers Guild. She likes to knit and lives with her family and pets (two budgies and Franki the Shetland Sheepdog) in London in an old house which doesn't have nearly enough bookshelves.
Alice has had two picture books published by Little Tiger Press, and other illustration clients include Shine UK, HarperCollins, World Wide Fund for Nature, Channel 4, Greater London Authority, Friends of the Earth, Horse + Pony magazine. She has also designed lots of books for Thames & Hudson, the Folio Society and Bodleian Library Publishing.
